Shizuoka Guided Tea Farm Visit, Matcha Class
Shizuoka
Guided/FIT:
Guided
Highlights
Visit the tea farm, tea museum and the neighboring villages guided by the local tea farmer. Enjoy seafood lunch at the fish market. Join a matcha making and tasting session run by a certified Matcha master.
Details
This is a walking tour by default. If you need vehicle transportation, we are happy to co-plan and arrange it for you (with extra cost of hiring the vehicle and driver). Tea picking is available at certain months of the year (at tea harvest season). The tour may be affected by climate.
Guilded walk-through of the neiboring villages and lunch at fish market
In the morning, we will pick you up from the nearest train station. On the way to the fish market, we will introduce the history, culture and stories of the neighboring villages. We will guide you through the fish market, where you will find the freshness and large varieties of seafood productions of the Suraga Bay and Izu Penisula, plus other local farm productions and specialties. You will enjoy lunch at the fish market by selecting your favorite items and paying at the spot. Taste the high-quality local seafood, which you wouldn't find of the same freshness in other countries.
Guided tea farm and tea museum visits
After lunch we will take you to the top of the mountain, see the tea plantation and explain the history and production process of organic tea, which we started in 1976 in Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay, Izu Peninsula. On a clear day, you can enjoy scenery of Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, and surrounding municipalities.
You will be guided through the tea fields and pick tea leaves by yourself. You have the option to wear Kinomo dress and fit yourself better in the environment. Sometimes it could happen that you will be walking freely outside of the tea fields and taking photos instead of picking tea leaves during busy season of tea harvest. However, we have relationships with different tea farms so we have better chance to arrange the tea picking. You will be amazed by the beauty of the tea fields and witness the harmony between nature and human.
You will be guided to the museum for further and deeper exploration of Japanese tea plantation, history and other details.
